Shelly Beach Golf Club – Additional Local Rules
(To be read in conjunction with the GA and JNJG Local Rules and Condition of Competition Sheet and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)
Any Local Rules displayed on the club’s local rules board are to be disregarded for this event.
THE BALL WILL BE PLAYED AS IT LIES
Rules Official and Course Marshalls will be monitoring the pace of play.
- OUT OF BOUNDS
- Beyond the course side edge of gutters painted black and white defining the boundary of the course.
- Beyond the course side edge of the Clubs car park, Club House, Shelly Beach Road and Club access roads.
- PENALTY AREAS
- A penalty area is any area identified by red stakes or red lines or any vegetated area which wood chip or remnants of wood chip are present.
- GROUND UNDER REPAIR AND PROTECTED GARDENS
- Areas defined by G.U.R signage and / or white stakes / lines.
- PLAY PROHIBITED from areas marked as “COMPULSORY G.U.R”
- PLAY PROHIBITED from Environmentally Sensitive & Protected Garden Areas defined by white stakes with green tops.
- IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS
- Artificially surfaced and defined paths including adjacent areas where artificial material has been spread or applied.
- Large rocks placed on the course along either side of Shelly Beach Road.
- STAKES TREES AND SHRUBS
- If a tree or shrub that is staked and or tagged with a white disk and / or protected by tree guards, interferes with a player’s stance or the area of their intended swing, the ball MUST be lifted, without penalty and dropped nearest point of relief and within one club length no nearer the hole.
- INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE
- Protective screens near the boundary fences behind the 10th green and on the left side of the 12th hole.
- Artificial retaining walls and or pilings when located in penalty areas.
- MAXIMUM SCORE FORMAT OF PLAY
- Maximum Score is a form of stroke play where a player’s score for a hole is capped a maximum number of strokes set by the committee.
- At all JNJG Junior Masters Events, the maximum score for any hole is 10 strokes.
- DROP ZONES

- 4TH Hole Penalty Area.
Should a player’s ball be in the Penalty Area to the left-hand side of the 4th hole and past the white pole, and it is not possible to take your penalty drop no nearer the hole, you may use the Dropping Zone which is located to the rear of the 4th green, adding ONE PENALTY STROKE.

- 10th Hole Dropping Zone
Should a player deem their ball to be unplayable against the fence to the rear of the 10th green, as an option to rule 19 Unplayable Ball, the player may use the Dropping Zone located to the left rear of the 10th green adding ONE PENALTY STROKE.

- 11th Hole Penalty Area Alternate Relief Options
Should a player’s ball lie in the Penalty Area to the rear of the 11th green and it is not possible to take your penalty drop no nearer the hole, you may use the Dropping Zone which is located to the east of the 11th green, adding ONE PENALTY STROKE.

- 14th Hole Penalty Area Alternate Relief Options
Should a player’s ball lie in the Penalty Area to the rear of the 14th green and 15th tee and it is not possible to take your penalty drop no nearer the hole, you may use the drop which is located between the 14th green and 15th tee adding ONE PENALTY STROKE.

- 15th Hole Penalty Area Alternate Relief Options
Should a player’s ball be in the Penalty Area to the rear of the 15th green, and it is not possible to take your penalty drop no nearer the hole, you may use the Dropping Zone which is located to west side of the 15th green, adding ONE PENALTY STROKE.
The following points apply when dropping a ball is a Dropping Zone:
- The player does not have to stand in the Dropping Zone when dropping the ball.
- When a player is using a Dropping Zone, the relief area is defined by that Dropping Zone and the ball must be dropped in and come to rest in the Dropping Zone ( see Rule 14.3).
- If the Dropping Zone is defined by a line on the ground, the line is inside the Dropping Zone.
Make sure you keep up with the group in front, carry and use a sand bucket to replace divots, and fix all pitch marks on the greens. Let’s leave the course in the same condition as when we arrived!!
UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE PENALTY FOR BREACH OF A LOCAL RULE IS THE GENERAL PENALTY:

Shelly Beach Golf Club – Tournament Information
- Scorecard Return
- A player’s scorecard is deemed officially returned to the Tournament Committee when the player has left the scorecard return area. Once the player has left the area, no changes may be made to the scorecard.
- Given the shotgun start format of the event, all players MUST move straight from their final hole to the scorecard return area AS A GROUP to complete and sign their scorecards.
- All groups must also enter LIVE SCORES on the Golf Genius App. This will assist us at the completion of the round in entering all groups and scores as quickly as possible.

- In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1c(3) of the Rules of Golf and nominate to play a second ball. The player must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls.
- Player Food and Drink
- All players will be given a lunch pack.
- Saturday – Players will collect their lunch pack at registration, between 10:45am and 11:45am.
- Sunday – Players will collect their food from the BBQ.

- Yellow Flag (front 1/3 of the green)
- Red Flag (middle 1/3 of the green)
- Blue Flag (back 1/3 of the green)
- Distance Marker Discs on Fairway are measured to the middle of the green

- White JNJG Tee Markers – all BOYS divisions
- Red JNJG Tee Markers – all GIRLS divisions
